Images are derived from the inspiration of everyday life, reflecting my own mentality,.

Pent up emotion, which is normally released as aggression, is channeled as a muddy human figure.

In small oil on linen paintings of heads, I combine improvisation and revision through painting, scraping then repainting to explore a variety of emotional states. The paintings are not striving for likeness, but for an expression of a person’s inner soul reflecting my disoriented feelings and discomfort formed through life. The muted palette of mauves, pinks and dusty flesh tones reinforces a sense of resolution through struggle. The result suggests a totemic mask that is simultaneously disturbing and awe-inspiring, like a survivor from a long archetypal journey.

Currently lives in New York attending SVA MFA program.
